Melissa Twarek
Director of Related Services

Greetings parents, families, and students! My name is Missy Twarek and I am excited to begin my third year at HILA as the Director of Related Services.

I’m originally from Ohio where I obtained a bachelor’s degree in special education. I then moved to Washington, D.C. where I taught students with autism for three years. Once in Chicago, I finished a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Applied Behavior Analysis. I am thankful for the opportunity to apply my knowledge and skills as a special education teacher and behavior analyst here at HILA.

A goal of mine has always been to improve and influence the education and inclusion of all students. I believe that all students can learn and succeed when provided appropriate structure, researched based teaching strategies, and a reinforcing learning environment. I look forward to continuing to grow HILA’s services for students with special needs throughout this school year.

Outside of work I enjoy reading, painting, and taking advantage of all Chicago has to offer. Collaboration with families is key to a successful education and my door is always open. I can be reached by phone or email at mtwarek@thehopeinstitute.us.
