Drop-off and Pick-up Procedures

Arrival

Parents/guardians should drop students off on Washington.  This area is designated as the Student Drop-off and main entrance once school is in session.  Do NOT park your car on the block of Washington occupied by the school. Parents having business in the school may park in any legal parking zone.  Students who take the bus will enter on Maypole (Exit #8 – NE exit).  HILA will be using a staggered start time.  Students in grades 1, 2, 3, and 4 will arrive between 7:30 – 7:50AM.  Kindergarten students will arrive between 8:00 – 8:20AM.  Any kindergarten siblings may arrive to school with their older siblings during the earlier arrival time.  When students arrive, they will go to the Cafeteria (or overflow cafeteria) for breakfast or the Auditorium for an alternate activity.  Teachers will greet students in the hallway between the Cafeteria and the Auditorium.

Departure

  • Kdg. and 1st grade students will depart through main entrance on Washington.
  • 2nd grade students will depart through exit door #4 on Washington closer to Paulina St.
  • 3rd & 4th grade students will depart through exit door #6 on Paulina St.

Parents should pick up their students along Washington.  Please do not park your cars, but remain in them so that your children may enter the car as quickly as possible.  Students will not be allowed to cross Washington to enter a car.  Students will be escorted from the building and supervised by HILA staff.  Please be on time to pick up your child. If your child is not enrolled in the After-School Program, there are no adults available to supervise him/her.   If you are late on a regular basis, we will ask you to enroll your child in the After-School Program.
